How to Make Homemade Treats Your Pup Will Love

We all love a night in with our pups, a cozy blanket and some refreshing ice cream, don’t we! This movie night your pup can have their own sweet treats! Here’s some super easy recipes below for some treats your pup will love!

Ice Cream

Ingredients:

  • 1L plain yogurt

  • 1/2 cup pure coconut butter

  • 1 cup fresh strawberries – washed and dried

Method:

  1. Add yogurt, strawberries, and coconut butter to a blender, blending until smooth.

  2. Pour mixture into a freezer-safe container. To make individual portions, pour into ice cube trays or small food-safe containers.

  3. Cover and freeze for several hours or up to a day before serving. Once frozen, scoop single servings into your dog’s favorite bowl!

  4. Store leftovers in the freezer.

Peanut Butter Biscuits

Ingredients

  • ½ cup natural unsalted peanut butter*

  • 1 egg 1 ½ cups whole meal flour

  • ¼ cup water (or bone broth for extra flavor)

*use peanut butter that doesn’t have any xylitol, an artificial sweetener toxic for dogs!

Method:

  1. Preheat oven to 170°C and line two trays with baking paper

  2. In a medium mixing bowl, beat the peanut butter and egg until combined

  3. Add whole meal flour and water and beat until a dough forms

  4. Sprinkle the bench with additional flour Knead dough until combined, add more flour

if it’s too sticky

  1. Roll the dough out to about 5mm thickness

  2. Using a cookie cutter, cut out the biscuits and place them on the lined baking trays

  3. Bake for 30 mins or until brown around the edges

  4. Remove from oven and cool on a wire rack before serving one to your dog to taste test ;)

Peanut Butter Pup-sicle

Ingredients

  • 150ml plain yogurt

  • 1/2 medium banana

  • 2 Tablespoons natural unsalted peanut butter*

  • 12 organic pretzel sticks

*use peanut butter that doesn’t have any xylitol, an artificial sweetener toxic for dogs!

Method:

  1. Add the yogurt, banana, and peanut butter to a blender or food processor and purée until mixture is smooth and creamy.

  2. Spoon mixture into an ice-cube tray and insert one pretzel stick into the centre of each compartment.

  3. Mixture should be thick enough to hold each pretzel upright.

  4. Place ice-cube tray in freezer until treats are completely frozen, about 1-2 hours.

  5. Once frozen make sure you share with your pup to taste test ;)
